Mary's B-day

Mary's Birthday! Can you believe this was our first birthday together?!?! Wow! Haha. The big 21. She has been so excited. Thanks for all the phone calls and packages. Every time the phone would ring she would tell me, as her birthday secretary, to answer it and bring it to her. She just lit up everytime it rang. I tried to get her everything she has been wanting for her birthday. The only things I didn't want to toy with was the #1 thing on her list.... hair products. Vadal Sasoon, Pantene Pro-v, Mabeline, I think Hana Montana has some new hair thing going on. It's hard enough to choose the right thing for a girl when you have only 2 options, so I knew with the warehouse size shampoo and makeup section I would defenitly fail. So I decided to get everything else she wanted, hoping she would forget about the hair stuff. Her birthday came and she was so happy and grateful for the stuff I got her. A check for 25$ also came in that day for her. I was so excited that it came in, so she could pick out her perfect hair supplies, and feel happy with her hair. Word is, that it's in that akward stage; not too long, but not too short. She had to work that day and told me she was going to make a couple stops before she got home to get some hair stuff. When she came home she gave me a big hug and we continued to celebrate her birthday. A couple hours later she asked me to look in my closet and see if I saw anything new. I have played this game before, and likewise have no luck. Apparently I always choose the shirts she says she wears all the time. I couldn't see anything new. With a big beautiful smile on her face she told me to look again. Nothing. Finally she told me to look at the floor, and there was a brand new, nice, shiny pair, of black shoes. They were for me. Instead of using her birthday money for what she wanted more than anything, she bought me new shoes. Isn't she mary just amazing!

Side Job

Well, life is full of surprises-but I am just not sure what surprises me most....the fact that I married a car salesman or how he always manages to find ridiculous deals and sell the vehicle for almost double what we paid for it. It would humor me to find out how many miles we have thrown on our Honda in pursuit of these "once in a lifetime deals" that pop up every week or so. Our first purchase was a 1964 Ford Truck. We paid $1000, didn't have much experience with bartering or really knowing what to look for in a car...we were proud of our first investment though....until the beater broke down about half a mile later on the way home. We look under the truck to find an overwhelming amount of rust and an engine being held up by 2x4's. This was going to be a learning experience. Somehow we sold it for $1700. By "somehow" I really mean, good thing I am married to the luckiest man in the world, because we were able to sell it for $700 more. There were a few more buyings and sellings after that, where the cars haven't broken down.

We have our selling routine pretty much down to an art now. The most recent buy was a DR350 Suzuki dirt bike. This was a killer deal, especially with gas prices so high we knew we would be able to flip it pretty quick....until we realized we know NOTHING about bikes. John took it for a ride through some Fields some miles out only to hitchhike home. The bike broke down. That "killer deal" was literally going to kill us. So we try to sell it anyway make like a $50 profit or something. John posts the bike on various Internet sites and when people come look at it, John instructed me my job is to come waddling out holding my very pregnant stomach so the buyer pities us and feels too bad to talk our price down...I am telling you....its an art. We sold it thank goodness...to a man with very long hair in a mini van.

So John's favorite way to relax is to look at Craig's list, KSL ads, Rexburgswap, and other websites selling cars, he has developed quite an eye for a good deal- and with his unquestionable good luck things usually work out.

And of course only Johnny would find a perfectly good working car, good physical condition (minus the fact that it is gold and an ugly Plymouth), nice interior- everything...for....free. Yes, FREE. How is someone so lucky?? So where to from here? I guess I will leave it up to John's luck. but still, who finds a perfectly good working car for free?

Best times ever!

Life is perfect. The girl i love and another little girl one on the way.

Every day an Adventure

So you will probably read our posts on this blog and think, "wow, you drove to the grocery store- what is so adventurous about that?" If you do think such you have yet to comprehend the thrill of knowing Johnny Brassell IV. A drive to Broulum's is easily turned to an offroading escapade over curbs, dirt mounds and any other challenge that gets in the way of our 85 Honda Accord- nicknamed "The Cricket" for the chirping sound coming from the engine. All the while I am left wondering if the next bump "in the road" will cause a preterm labor. Let's face it, life with John is anything short of an adventure. And its one of the things I love most about him.
Take camping last weekend- we head towards the mountains with no particular place to go- Lewis and Clark style, we find the perfect spot to make camp and go to set up our tent to realize we forgot it....so it looks like a night under the stars- which sounded exciting- until the stars disappeared and were replaced by clouds thundering and throwing lightening- it took us about 10 seconds to boycott that camping trip, we watched the coolest lightening storm on the way home though....all in all it was one of the funnest camping trips I have ever been on. The next in line would be when we made the tent out of a tarp and quilt to block the rain storms all night...let's face it- we, Brassells know how to have an adventure.
Hello, Seattle! Pregnant with Caity (at this point everyone thought she was going to be a boy!)

We caught our first mouse!! This is the only part of our apartment John can stand up in!

Dinner is served! :)
