Oceanside Beach on Tuesday

I'm so grateful for my friend, Janel. She is always up for adventures and our kids get along so well, it is always an all around win.
When she pointed out it was going to 87 degrees at the coast Tuesday, we felt the call. Despite spending all day at Sauvie Island on Monday, we decided it was worth pushing limits and enjoying the beautiful weather.
It didn't disappoint. I loved every second of it. Granted, we were all tired and there were some moments reflecting that, but all things considered: we had a blast.

When we first arrived William and Johnny got in a disagreement about a shovel and I finally found William about 100 yards off, just by himself watching the ocean.  It was the sweetest, just seeing him remove himself until he calmed down.
Brooklyn and Caity running to fill buckets up with water.

Matthew trying to keep up.
He was cracking me up this trip. He was so tired, he was acting all dopey. He was just trip and giggle and hug me and giggle more.
He had a serious vendetta gains the ocean though (got swept over one too many times in the past.) It reminded me of Calvin and Hobbs comics where Calvin sure his bike is out to destroy him. Matthew would just cautiously watch the waves come in and talk smack to the ocean,  "Ha HA. You can't get ME!" And he would scuttle away as soon as a bigger wave would come.

The ocean eroded the sand in a way that a little pool was created. It's deepest part was probably four feet deep and the little pond was about the size of a hotel pool. Kate taught Johnny to swim and they were both pretty proud of that.

We went through the cave-tunnel and explored the other side of the beach. The kids climbed up the jutting rocks and their face expressions showed how invincible they felt. It was gorgeous and I kept thinking,  "Do I seriously live here??"

On the beautiful drive home, I felt so overcome with gratitude. I felt if I died that night, I would have no regrets. When I think of all the beautiful human experiences I've been able to jump full throttle in, I feel such joy in God's plan for me, and that I can learn of Him in such a breathtaking arena. The Earth is amazing.

I'm so glad we pushed our tired selves out of the house- it was such a fun, unforgettable adventure!
