Potato/Po-tawt-o, Crazy Hair, and Overalls

At a church trick or treat last October, someone gave out potatoes. Johnny gave his to Emma to see what she would do, and what do you know? That thing went straight to her mouth. Her big brothers were delighted by her joy over sucking on a nasty raw potato. Ever since, when a raw potato is within her reach, Emma takes hold of that potato and gnaws away at it. Such was the case yesterday. She was so excited to when she exited the pantry with potato in hand. So without further ado, I present: a girl and her potato:

John and I always crack up over Emma’s post-pigtail hair. We both love running our fingers through her soft baby curls. It seems like every face expression is only magnified by her standing straight up hair!

Honestly, I just needed to have a place saved on this blog for the cuteness overload that I feel when Emma wears over-alls!

Emma’s First Couple Weeks

Coming home from the hospital after Emma’s birth was like a time warp. It seemed we were just cocooned as a family in our home as we transitioned from a family of six to seven. I felt like it was a constant battle for me to get a turn to hold Emma! She loved hearing Cate sing, and “O Holy Night” always seemed to calm her when she was upset. We watched a lot of movies, played games, and “ooooed” and “awwwed” over every outfit Emma wore and face expression she made. We were smitten. I will always remember this time as being a sacred gift before the chaos of winter sports and school and music and work bombarded us. It felt so “right” to have all my people together under one roof, separated by whatever was happening outside our front door.
