Goin' to Church

I love when we don't calculate our time right, so we are a little early getting ready for church. (Seriously, it seems like we are always rushing out the door!)
There is just something about having a few minutes to enjoy each other before we head out and because they are dressed in their Sunday best, the kids almost look sweet and innocent.

It's hard these days to capture a picture of William that doesn't come out blurry.  He is just so wiggly! Yesterday he mastered saying "Uh oh." (Should I mention it was when I caught him pulling all kleenex out of the box in the church foyer? No, I'll leave that part out.)  John took Wills for the third hour and when I exited Relief Society, there he was, toddling full speed in my direction, smiling and laughing. Made my day.

I love when Johnny wears suits.  He is such a little man. When I picked him up from nursery, he said, "Mom! I have a friend who's going to be my friend forever!" I asked him who it was.  He said, "YOU!" Then he gave me that cheesy grin where he opens his eyes all wide and it just melted my heart.  Johnny is always so good at those one-liners I need to hear!

This girl.  Love her. She makes it her personal responsibility that everyone has what they need for church each week. She makes sure there are enough crayons and coloring books for her and Johnny, and let's just say- I stopped packing a diaper bag because Caity already had it under control.  Atta' girl.  Her big obsession these days is having a "ballerina bun" in her hair.

(See! Another blurry picture of a constantly moving baby!) William and Johnny have been walking and holding hands lately.  It is so cute. That is, until Johnny gets too excited and takes off running...then it gets a little traumatic for little brother. So far, he has survived though.

John insisted we drive Sally to church yesterday.  The kids were 100% on board- not that I wasn't, it's just 6-inch lift and big tires don't mix with a pencil skirt when I am trying to get in the car! Ha ha.

It was a good Sunday. We tried our hand at Bacon Cheddar Burgers and they were yummy.  We went on a walk, and laid low. Good day, good life.

Day 25: Trains, Hair, and Sleeping Babies.

Today we got to go to church with the entire Brassell Clan.
This is a typical Sunday after church:
Everyone sitting at the island, eating Mac and Cheese.

Caity hates when I french braid her hair- probably because I am still not good at it and pull her hair super tight. Last time I did it, I was getting frustrated and said, "Errrr!" then realized Caity probably thought it was her fault so I quickly said, "Sorry, Caity I am just not good at this and it is frustrating."
Then Caity said, "I know what you mean, I'm like that with my pony's hair all the time."
I'd be lying if I didn't say my first internal reaction was "Ummm, except pony hair is easy." Then I gave myself reality check and realized how sweet that was!

Today when I was braiding her hair I said, "Caity everyone will think you look just like a pioneer!"
She said:
"I just wish I had a dress that said, 'If you like my hair, just tell me- because I really want to know."
Haha! That made me smile.

Then there was Johnny.
Yesterday, he grabbed a bat for the first time and hit a softball over and over again- that's my boy!
He is so coordinated and athletic, it is fun watching him run and play.

"Mom! What if there was a train in the sky, Mom? Would that be crazy?"
Yep, it sure would be crazy.  And I would probably believe in Harry Potter or something.

When William got done pulling all my hair out, he crashed for an afternoon nap.

Then he woke up and played with Caity.

And then we spent the afternoon talking religion, politics, and all sorts of other things you shouldn't discuss with family but always do anyway.

Ready to Party

Today we went to a family friend's reception, so I get to head back to my old stomping grounds in the good ole Federal Way!
Before we took off, I realized my kids' faces weren't dirty, so it was worth pulling out a camera. Some occasions are just too special to pass up.

These kids are so much fun. I am glad I get to be their mom and enjoy their youth! Speaking of which, I got my first gray hair, people! Oy vey!
Here are a couple of pictures from the reception:
It was such a fun night.  I am so grateful for all the wonderful people in my life.  Since my parent moved to Salt Lake, it had been a long time since I had seen such familiar faces.  Caity had so much fun hanging out with Melita's kids, it made me wish we lived closer!
But alas, we are basically nomads and move so often these days we just don't know where we will end up next.

Another Day in Newcastle.

These kids have loved our stay here.
Beside's a couch and fold up table from a family friend, we didn't have any furniture, so our kids had so much room to run and around and enjoy themselves.  We only brought a few toys, so we they got a lot of play time.
The library is only a block away and we frequent there as often as we can and we are reading quite a bit around here. I love library books, because I don't get so bored!  We also live right by a QFC grocery store and will sometimes walk there to get an ice-cream cone.  Caity is signed up for Kid Camp at church, so I am excited she has that to look forward to as well.

Ever since he was a baby, Johnny would do this when he got embarrassed, I think it is so cute.

^here they are watching PBS kids so I could get some HW done. I just love what buddies they are. We are having such a fun summer together, surviving the heat.

For a date tonight, John and I checked out a movie from the library and are going to use our coupon for a free pizza at Jet City Pizza...I can't wait! I haven't seen a lot of him since he started on the housing project internship, so it will be a fun time together (with baby kicking me ribs the entire time!) :)
