Little Moments Matter

These are random pictures from "lately" that just make me smile. There aren't any significant events attached to them, but I feel like they represent the small, daily, happy spots that add up to a lovely life.
The other day, over cereal, William said, "Mom, you are beautiful." And he meant it. Because to William, beauty is sitting on the ground and playing cars with him, and helping him take deep breaths when he is overwhelmed by big crowds, or doing a special load of laundry so he can wear his Jake and the Neverland Pirates shirt to his friend's house, and tucking him in bed as many times as it takes.
Beauty is a lot of things to me. It's a two year old that fits perfectly in the crook of my arm while I read to him, or getting play by play updates about Caity's book company, or waking early with Johnny and hearing his 1st grade wisdom, or William saying "Stop it now. Look at me. I love you, mom!" It's the way a hug feels when John gets home from work, or when we makie eye contact over a child's head and laugh because we can read eachother's thoughts. Beauty is feeling the breeze brush off the beach waves; it's an answered prayer, sitting down to dinner with my family, a clean house Saturday night, and picking up where you left off with an old friend. Essentially what I'm getting at is this: life is beautiful. These pictures are low quality, blurry and insignificant. However,  when I took them I saw some value in the moment that I wanted to capture "the happy" I felt. So there is some beauty in that. These little moments matter.

Easter Weekend 2018

This was one of my favorite Easters yet. I feel like we got to do all the fun, festive things, but because of General Conference, it was a low key weekend. There was a lot of peace in my home- and heaven knows, I needed that!
By the time I went to bed Sunday night, I thought: what a perfect day and perfect celebration of Christ's atonement and resurrection.
I don't remember much about the details, just the over all feeling and wanted to at least throw some of these pictures on the blog so they aren't lost!

When easter falls on April Fool's Day, your dad may give you chocolate cover RAW eggs. I feel like this needed to be documented.

Good Kids

Sometimes I look at my kids and their goodness just overwhelms me. I am so grateful to know them.

William Things on a Thursday

This morning William packed the cutest lunch box for him and Matthew.  There were two juice boxes,  a Tupper ware full of shredded cheese, two Tupper wares full of honey nut cheerios, a box of raisins,  and a notebook with a pen. He came up to me looking so accomplished with himself. Then,  he went and chose out clothes for him and Matthew.  I know William is in a motivated mood when on his own, he chooses jeans for pants. He typically beelines it for pajama pants, to which I convince him to at least trade out the monster/minion/baseball print for some solid sweat pants. Each of his decent sweatpants have have specific nicknames: ninja pants, comfy pants, belly pants. (Belly pants because the pull up past his belly button.) Anyways, where was I? When William asked me to button his jeans, I knew he was in a productive state of mind. He got Matthew's clothes, and since William was wearing jeans, Matthew now felt he could too.

William said to walk down the stairs in between him and Matthew.  I said,  "Like a prisoner?"
He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "No! Like a princess!"

He started pushing buttons on the microwave and pushed start, then said: "Oh No! I'm burning the air, right?"

He is at a sweet stage right now.
