The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island

Pumpkin hunting has to be one of my favorite traditions.  This year we hauled our crew out to Sauvie Island and enjoyed the gorgeous views of the Columbia River and Mount Saint Helens and (I believe) Mount Adams.
We ran through fields, pet stinky animals, went on hay rides, explored a pumpkin patch, jumped hay bales, and had a lot of one on one conversations.
If I'm being completely transparent here, I was pretty anxious and stressed that night. I don't know why, maybe it's just keeping up with four kids in a busy public place. I kept trying to remind myself to just be present.  There were moments where I had to stop and force mindfulness, and I'm so grateful I did...because I don't really remember the stressful feelings from the day (though I remember I was). When I look through these pictures I feel the light breeze on my face, and I hear William calling out to Matthew, and I see the unmasked excitement on Johnny's face sitting in the front of the wagon, I feel the hay under my feet chasing my kids, I feel all warm inside watching Caity's body language while she talked to John...who, I really have to hand it to- he made this trip.
It was a great way to spend a Monday evening.

I feel like I need to include this picture because all the boys were looking forward, and I said: "Smile!!" And this was their reaction. They were so over it. Haha.

So glad you documented this! And I'm glad that although it took some work, you stayed present the whole time! Life is Good :)
