Later in the day, John called me while Matthew and I were cuddling. He kept snatching the phone and (while giggling uncontrollably) taunted John "I'm cuddling with Mom, feet-face! She's MY mom!" It's some little ongoing game they have and it cracked me up how much fun he had teasing his dad. Also: feet face? Haha! (I'm trying to deter the boys from saying their favorite potty words, and the replacement names and killing me! But not literally, obviously.)
After chores were done, we headed to another park that evening. The kids played basketball with our missionaries while I talked to some school friends' parents. I'm telling you: I really love the sense of community I've felt here. Every one is so friendly and generally inclusive: even if they think I'm the crazy-four-kids lady.
On the way home Matthew held my hand and stopped at every bush to pick me a flower. He'd give it to me and say, "you're da' best mom ever, mom." And " you're so nice to me today! I wike it!" It melted my heart, and I hope I never forget the squishiness of his little dimpled hands, and how good it felt to be loved by him!
